The drums are laced onto a separate piece of rawhide for even pressure to prevent tearing. The drum handles are wrapped in recycled mink or leather and made so you can slide your hand underneath so it fits like a glove!

The drums are gorgeous to look  at, the Orenda of heron drum really reminds me of a heron flying over  the water and the Orenda of the pow-"wow" drum -- really fills my  house. Gary, I received my drum today and I just wanted to tell you how pleased I am with it. The workmanship is beautiful!!! You truly are an artist and have found your calling in life. The sound is extraordinary and takes me back to the drumming I did with a shaman in Idaho a number of summers ago while serving at a hospital as a chaplain-in-training. FIRST of all, Whoever painted the drum is an excellent artist and it must of taken alot of time just to make the drum itself. I started to play the drum after I opened it and scared the heck out of my cat.  The sound could be heard throughout the house, whether I hit the rim of the drum or more towards the center of the drum.
